Rebuffed by Panchayat, Village Boys Collect 1 Lakh ($1400) to Make Their Own Cricket Ground

 

Youngsters from Bilota village of Rajasthan's Rajsamand district approached the local panchayat for funds to construct a cricket ground in their area. However, the panchayat showed no interest in the project despite many attempts.

This is when the local youth decided to take the matter in their own hands. They pooled in their own money and collected donations from local villagers to construct a cricket ground of their own. The field has been levelled for cricket practice to begin. Soon they plan to landscape it with grass and make it available to all the youth and children in the village. Our community correspondent Shambhulal Khatik has documented the transformation through this video report.
